Challenge

MyClickUrban has been around for 8 years providing a way for the urban community to post events and find events as they travel or just explore new things in the area. Technology changes so fast that MyClickUrban has had no choice but to keep up with the times. It started out as just a website but now everyone needs to have access to information in the palm of their hands. How do we take their current database of events and transform it into a more robust system?


Solution

J 12 Designs brought MyClickUrban to the next level by providing an app on both Android and iOS platforms as well as a mobile friendly website and modern back end system for management. We did this by using all of the current data collected and moving it into a simple management system.

We have both apps running from the same database. We built a custom content management system (this is not WordPress or Drupal) and gave them options to easily add events and manage the look and feel of the app through the control panel. They can add cities, change graphics and category images straight from the online desktop backend system.
One of the coolest parts of the backend system is an experimental function where they can insert a website and the system will automatically grab the event, image, and details from that page and insert them into the event listing. We thought it was a crazy until we did it. This cuts down on research time dramatically. They can now focus on a few sites that gives good event listings and grab the events that are relevant to the site.

BET,Jet Magazine, Black Enterpriseā€¦sound familiar? It did not take long for them to all write artilces praising the only app that focuses on the urban lifestyle. People are downloading the app on a daily basis and thepress is getting bigger and bigger. They added 2 more cities since the launch and have a great blog called MCU Voice. Sky is the limit for MyClickUrban.
